The fabric headboard had TWO boxes over it for extra protection, then every other piece for the bed fit perfectly INSIDE the headboard! My slightly OCD self was so very happy and whoever designed it to be packaged that way must have been a Tetris Pro. Construction was the simplest and easiest we have ever done. And it seems incredibly sturdy. We typically reinforce all our wooden platform bedframe in the middle because the dinky middle legs always suck, bit this has metal legs underneath and just seems to be designed perfectly. We have a heavy Sinus mattress on it and we have jumped onto it and our dogs have jumped and wrestled on it, and it hasn't felt shake or unsturdy at all. The one thing we did not expect is that it is much taller than our previous platform beds. Not a bad thing at all, just unexpected. I have a 12 inch pillow top king mattress and it is the perfect height. I was a little concerned also about the slats. They seem pretty flimsy but we love the frame enough to replace them if needed. Overall I am VERY happy. It took about 20 minutes for my husband and I to put together as a team. Put it together with one other person in about an hour. Be careful to read the directions carefully, as there is a small difference in the drawing, showing you how to arrange the support beams that we initially missed. This is why I'm taking one star off- because the directions did not clearly state which direction the support beams go on the King size frame (which are very close in length, but not exactly the same). Bed has so far been sturdy, no creaking and supports our very heavy hybrid coil/memory foam king size mattress. We have had the bed for one week so far with no issues. The amount of clearance for storage under the bed is about 6-7\" depending upon your floor surface. Good looking upholstery(we got gray) and modern style 12\" platform bedframe. Strong and sturdy metal support is easy to assemble and then you add the side upholtered pieces. Everything is screwed together and a tool is included. The parts were cleverly enclosed in the back of the headboard with a zippered access. No squeaking for a heavy guy like me but I made sure the frame screws were really tight. Note: Don't tighten your screws up more than finger tight until all the pieces are together then go for it.
